How to bypass HDCP to record Playstation 3 in 1080p using HDMI

This is currently a work in progress but this is what I've been working on in the lab. I've received my DVI to HDMI converter (HDCP Stripper) today and verified that it works great!

Below you'll find my current work in progress for my capture setup. I'll be posting more information and videos about the setup in the coming weeks as well. Stay tuned!

YouTube video walk through of it in practice.

Black Magic Intensity Pro - Problem with video capture device - Camera in use - Device in use

This post is just so I have on record what I've requested support for from Black Magic Design. The Black Magic Intensity Pro currently doesn't place nice with Flash based products.

Hi Black Magic Support, I'm currently dealing with an issue with my Black Magic Intensity Pro in relation to using Flash products to capture video. Specifically, Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 and Xsplit (newest version). I've detailed my entire problem on the Xsplit forums looking for help there but I am now thinking the problem is not with Xsplit but something deeper.

In the past I've had to wipe my operating system and reload it to fix the issue but it has returned again on my fresh installation. Something is locking my access to the BMIP when trying to use any flash related software to capture / stream video using my BMIP. Here is a photo of my exact error:

My full length problem is written up here in excruciating detail including a YouTube video of the problem.

If you have any ideas or clues you could pass my way to share with the community on how to resolve this issue it would be greatly appreciated. I know that BMIP  is known for not playing nicely with Xsplit but I really dont want to have to wipe my operating system every time this happens.

Thank you very much for your support on this.

Sincerely,

Josh Martin

Razer Onza Tournament Edition Issues

After looking into buying a new Xbox360 controller I was dead set on picking up Razer's new entrance into the console controller market but I am glad I didn't pre-order at this point.

After reading Amazon reviews on the Tournament edition I've decided to wait until Razer increases build quality and life span of the analog sticks. I've followed up with a support email to Razer to inquire if there are any plans to fix these issues that lots of user's have encountered with the controller.

Lets see how the respond.

Hi Razer!

I am not yet a customer of yours but I would like to be. I would really love to buy the Razer Onza Tournament Edition but the reviews I'm reading on Amazon.com relating to the terrible build quality of the Analog sticks is very disheartening.

I've had my eye on the Onza since I heard about it more than a year ago and was set to pre-order it before its release. I am certainly glad that I did not after reading all of the issues people have been having with the sticks. I just wanted to inquire with you guys to see if you are aware of these issues with your device? Basically the "rubber bands" used in the stick tension system will just wear out eventually according to many reviewers on the Amazon.com product page here:

http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Onza-tournament-Xbox-360/product-reviews/B004DTU0W2/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

Do you guys have any plans in the future to improve build quality on this controller?

On paper this thing looks like the greatest controller of all time but in the hands of gamers it seems to be failing more often than not. I have a feeling the reduction in price from $59.99 to $39.99 on Amazon has something to do with this build quality as well.

If you have any plans to improve this controller in the future please let the gaming community know or pull the faulty devices.

Anyway, sorry if this came off as a rant, I just want to buy a GOOD controller for the 360 to play FPS games in comfort and precision.

Thanks for your time.

Sony Playstation 3 Repair

So after hearing from my friend that his Playstation 3 up and died on him. YLOD - Yellow Light of Death syndrome I began researching ways to repair his Playstation without spending too much cash. We figured that paying no more than 1/3 the total cost of a brand new one but we were also looking for a facility that could repair 'his' personal Playstation and not just replace it with a new one.

We definitely didn't want to lose his countless hours of time invested into his game saves or lose his launch unit PS3 which has PS2 backwards compatibility and all his PS2 game saves.

After watching a ton of YouTube videos on how to do it yourself as well as looking into repair companies we found one that looks to be very reputable and after talking to a representative sounds like they can do exactly what we need.

- Repair or replace all parts.
- Fix the YLOD
- Replace the Power Supply
- Keep all save data intact.
- Repair his physical unit and not replace it.
- Quick turn around of about a week.

For $109 this includes: Fast turn around time, free shipping and all parts and labor. He's finally decided to send his PS3 in to repair to http://psr1.com. I'll post back once we get the results of the repair.

Final Fantasy XIII Obtained!

Seriously... This is one of _the_ most impressive game's I have ever played. From the opening sequence I was hooked. First impressions are very good and I can say that I will be diving into this game this weekend. I picked it up on the PS3 of course along with the Collectors Edition Game Guide for a total of $95. I had a $55 GameStop gift card from Turtle at Christmas time and my GameStop Edge Card got me an additional 10% off the price of the guide + another 10% off the guide for purchasing it with the game.

I normally don't purchase game guides but this one is hard bound and really cool looking so I couldn't resist. I've been playing through each chapter and then going back to review the guide to see if I missed anything instead of reading the guide first. This helps to keep the experience immerse and fresh for my first play through. I will admit that I had some trouble at the end of Chapter 3 with the Endolon fight so I refereed to the guide.

Highly recommend picking up this game if you've ever played a Final Fantasy title or classic RPG style game, this does not disappoint.

Back to the grind! Look for me on PSN this weekend exploring the Universe of Final Fantasy 13!
