Razer Onza Tournament Edition Issues

After looking into buying a new Xbox360 controller I was dead set on picking up Razer's new entrance into the console controller market but I am glad I didn't pre-order at this point.

After reading Amazon reviews on the Tournament edition I've decided to wait until Razer increases build quality and life span of the analog sticks. I've followed up with a support email to Razer to inquire if there are any plans to fix these issues that lots of user's have encountered with the controller.

Lets see how the respond.

Hi Razer!

I am not yet a customer of yours but I would like to be. I would really love to buy the Razer Onza Tournament Edition but the reviews I'm reading on Amazon.com relating to the terrible build quality of the Analog sticks is very disheartening.

I've had my eye on the Onza since I heard about it more than a year ago and was set to pre-order it before its release. I am certainly glad that I did not after reading all of the issues people have been having with the sticks. I just wanted to inquire with you guys to see if you are aware of these issues with your device? Basically the "rubber bands" used in the stick tension system will just wear out eventually according to many reviewers on the Amazon.com product page here:

Do you guys have any plans in the future to improve build quality on this controller?

On paper this thing looks like the greatest controller of all time but in the hands of gamers it seems to be failing more often than not. I have a feeling the reduction in price from $59.99 to $39.99 on Amazon has something to do with this build quality as well.

If you have any plans to improve this controller in the future please let the gaming community know or pull the faulty devices.

Anyway, sorry if this came off as a rant, I just want to buy a GOOD controller for the 360 to play FPS games in comfort and precision.

Thanks for your time.

  1. I purchased my Razer Onza Tournament edition about a year ago. I haven't used it that much because in the mean time my XBOX got the dreaded rrod so I had to purchase a new one and started using the wireless that came with it. The Razer was pretty much only being used for pc gaming and that wasn't much as I don't have many pc games that work with a gamepad. Fast forward to yesterday... I want to try a new racing game on my pc. All exited I bust out my Razer Onza TE and go into the game. For some reason I can't seem to keep my car off the right wall. I go into the calibration screen to see that it almost never resets correctly whenever I turn to the right. I then took out my really old (read 5 years +) Microsoft wired controller, plug that in... and it works perfectly.
